Thursday October 23

Today the Fireman became a plumber :)
He got started on some plumbing stuff for the bathroom upstairs.
It's looking good to me.
Tonight was the school's "Family Read Night".
It was cute.
Each grade was assigned a book to read, and then there was an activity for each book.
For example, preschool's book was 'Jamberry'.
My neighbor, Vern, volunteered for that.
She asked Madi if she would help her out too.
Vern had jelly and flower cut pieces of bread.
Jelly rolls, water, fruit snacks.
Treats that all had to do with the story of the book.
Kindergarten's book was 'Bunny Cakes'.
They had each kid put some cake mix in a baggy, and staple microwave instructions to it for an individual cake.
1st grade's book was 'Alexander and terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day'.
They had each kid write a story or draw a picture of their worst day ever, or to make one up.
Then all the pages will be bound into a fun little book for Mary Mac.
2nd grade read 'Flat Stanley'.
They had the kids write their name on a little flag and pin it to a map of where they wanted to go with Flat Stanley.
Then you took your picture with Flat Stanley.
3rd grades book was 'Lunch ladies and the league of Librarians'.
For that one, they had a piece of paper that you had to collect clues from each other station to figure a clue out for where the lost goggles were found.
The clues led you to the library where you could put your filled out card into a raffle drawing for one of the 6 book read by the grades.
(Elsie actually got picked....she chose 'Alexander and the ...........', she was so excited to win!!!)
4th grade was 'Chomp'.
They had a reptile man come and the kids got to touch and play with a snake, crocodile, tarantula, large lizard, and big turtle.
Port thought it was all so cool!
Cassi held the tarantula and she said it got webs all over her.
I didn't get a picture of her there cause she took off with her friends.
I told her next time if she wants pictures she should stick with me!
And 5th grade's book was 'Every soul a star'.
And there was a guy that gave them an astrology lesson.....I didn't get pictures of that, but that was cool and some fun info.
So we ended up at the library, which is where they want you to end up because that is where the book fair is going on.
Which is the main purpose of this read night.....
To get you to buy books :)
Well, Port had a hard time when the book he wanted, ran out.
And then when Elsie won a book, that put him over the top :(
He was super tired, so I left Cassi and Madi and took the little ones hoe and got them to bed.
Vern brought the big girls home after they helped with cleaning up.
I had to take a picture of Cassi afterwards, because I never got one of her at the read night.....cause, as I said, she ditched me :(
It was a fun night.
