Raising good kids...

Today Cassi told me that there were some kids chanting on the bus "We hate John, we hate John."
I said that was horrible, and asked who John was.
John is the bus driver who has been driving the bus since Marshall, the original bus driver, broke his arm falling on ice.
Cassi said she felt sad that kids were saying that.
I asked her what John did and she said that he pulled over for a minute and asked them to stop because that wasn't nice.
She said that when they started going again, the kids started to say, "We want Marshall, we want Marshall."
I felt so bad...Cassi felt bad about it too, that is why she told me about it.
I asked her what she thought she should do, or what she should do if it happened again...
She decided that she wanted to make John a card, and I thought that was very sweet of her.
So Cassi put together a card for John and drew him a picture of a bright yellow bus.
She is excited to give it to him.

The boy has been AWFULLY grumpy today.
He has been at my feet begging to be held all day!
He did take a couple good naps, so I could get a few things done. (Except actually change out of my work-out clothes...at least I got a work-out in...thanks to Jenni!)
But I kept Elsie home today too.
She usually wakes up by 7:00 at the latest...so when she was still sleeping at 7:30 and 7:45, I thought maybe she didn't feel good either.
So I didn't send her to school.
She finally woke up at 9:30...happy as can be!
No fever, no grumpiness...
I guess she just needed to catch up on some sleep!

Tonight when we were upstairs getting everyone bathed and dressed and picking out clothes for tomorrow...
Porter snuck away and FELL DOWN THE STAIRS!!!
Yes...our solid wood stairs.
None of us saw it happen, all we heard was a clunk, clunk, clunk going down the stairs...and it seemed to never end.
I was terrified of what I would find...it is amazing how many different scenarios can go through your mind in a couple of seconds.
I finally got down the stairs to him where he was getting up with a very mad look on his face and crying...I checked him over, as best as I could anyway...
He has big bruise on his forehead, and about three goose eggs on the back of his head.
Poor boy!
I feel so bad.
He seems to be doing just fine.
My poor little man...

******************************************************

*I am Thankful for the sun...now I just want it to be WARM!

*I am Thankful that I did a good job on my personal goal today...which is not to raise my voice at the kids. Oh, they still got in trouble if that was the case...but I didn't YELL! That is my goal for the week, hopefully it can become a habit!

*I am Thankful that my little boy didn't break any bones or split his head open falling down the stairs!!! That could have turned out SO BAD! I am Thankful that we are watched over!

Kids can be soooo mean! Cassi is so sweet to think of John and want to give him a card! I bet it will mean more to him then she could know! That's so scary about Porter! SO glad he is ok! Can't wait to hear back from Cassi about what John thought of his card! Again, what a sweetie!

That is so cute of Cassi, he will be so happy to get that card. Kids really can be mean! I'm glad Porter is ok. I had to help my friend with her little guy tonight that split his head open. Tripp did that when he was little too, little boys are a hand full (in a great way though :)

I swear I could hear him falling as I was reading. Poor kid. Too funny that he looked mad. I'm glad there wasn't a trip to the emegerncy room. Tell Cassi way to go!

I cringe thinking about Porter going down the steps... that's just the worst feeling. I'm glad he was okay. And that's sweet of Cassi to have felt bad and wanted to do something kind!

That makes me mad about the bus driver. Ayden didn't say anything. What a sweet heart for making him a card.

Oh that melted my heart about Cassi. She is lucky to have two great parents who teach her to love others. I love that story. Oh that's too bad about Porter, that has happened to me, try trying to catch them as they are rolling down the stairs and then of course not being quick enough, ughhh! Then having your husband never forgetting it!!
