Friday September 20

Port and Canon hung out most of the day today.
I took him over to Stacia this morning to play so I could get the stairwell painted.
Then she brought them over at lunchtime.
They had fun playing and I made them sit and watch a show while eating grapes so I could hop in the shower, cause I had to get to the school at 3:00 for Cassi's student of the Month assembly.
She also got recognized for being part of the student counsel.
I took the boys with me, but then Stacia called just before the assembly started and she took both the boys again, which was so nice.
Porter at an assembly is not the most fun thing ever :)
It was fun to see Cassi be recognized.
The teacher had the kids write a few things of what they liked about Cassi.....all very nice, and true things.
She is a very good friend for sure.
She was recognized for friendship and compassion.
After school Cassi went over to Bailey Goodwins house and Madi went to her friend Maegan Schulers house.
Cassi called about 5:30 and both girls wanted to come over here for a little bit.
So they did, and they had fun.
Madi is still at Maegans...I need to go pick her up now :)
Oh and Elsie had her first spelling test today.
She did pretty darn good!
Proud of her!

Thursday September 19

Well, I got all the plastering done today and the third coat of polyurethane on the stairs.
Now all we have left is the painting....which hopefully I can get done tomorrow.
And then the installation of the stairs and a little shelf thing.... :)
And of course hanging of pictures and stuff.
But it is almost done!!!!
*****
The little ones had fun outside while Madi did her homework.
Scooby likes us pretty good now.
Porter loves that cat.
It is pretty cute.
*****
Kind of sad thing happened.....
Last night must have been too old and we lost 6 or the 7 baby bunnies :(
Sad.
But one did survive.
Hopefully that little one can keep warm enough.
Cass was bummed when she went with me to get the little baby bodies out.
*****
Elsie got a special little gift in the mail today from Emmy.
Elsie sent a little picture to Emmy a few days ago, and Emmy sent a card and this t-shirt to her.
Elsie was over the top excited about this Halloween shirt!!
I sent Em a text and told her that she is an enabler :)
I love it.
She is so great!

Wednesday September 18

It was the Shafer View Youth Talent show tonight.
It was a fun time...
It lasted about 1 1/2 hours with 1/2 hour of it being technical difficulties :)
But it's okay, it was pretty fun.
Madi and the Beehive class performed a fun little dance together with a collection of different songs mixed together.
They did a good job.
And Madi wasn't as nervous as I thought she would be.
She is really sprouting into a great Young Woman and learning more about herself and what she can do.
Makes me proud to watch her :)
*****
Still not done with the stairs yet.....but we did get lots done.
It really is looking so great.
Hopefully Saturday can be the day when we can maybe get it all pulled together!
Can't wait.
We are kind of sick of doing it.
Okay, Brent is REALLY sick of it!
But hopefully it will be worth it.

Tuesday September 17

So guess what?
We had seven more 'miraculously conceived' baby bunnies today!
Man!!!!
We still have the 3 teenagers and 1 preteen to get rid of!
But baby bunnies are super cute......they all seem to be doing good.
*****
Dad worked hard again all day to figure out those wires.
He had to punch a few holes in the ceiling of the downstairs family room to see where the heck the wires went!
It was all very frustrating for him....but he did it.
Of course :)
So now we can get going on the rest of it.
He did get the drywall up.
So that is looking awesome too.
I sanded the stairs and put a 3rd coat of polyurethane on most of the steps....have a few more to finish up tomorrow.
I had to leave to get to 'back to school night' at Mary Mac.
After school all the kids had 'play-dates'.
The Morgan kids came over.
Well, Cassi started over at their house, and the others were over here....but then Cassi and Avery showed up here later on.
Even Sydney, the oldest, came later on too.
They are fun kids and they all get along really well.
So I got some pictures....
Madi and Carly
Elsie and Kyra
Porter and Canon
Cassi and Avery
Like I said, Sydney came later....there are pictures of her on Madi's phone I am gonna need to add later.
They were goofballs and drove around making 'where's waldo' pictures with a volleyball.
Silly girls.
So they all had a fun afternoon.

*****
Here are some gems from Madi's collection of pictures :)
Oh my goodness.
I am laughing hard.
She is such a dork and I love it :)

Monday September 16

Well, electrical stuff kept us from getting much done on the stairs today.
Bummer.
These wires are just crazy...
He is figuring it out though.
*****
After school, Porter and Elsie spent about 2 hours hanging out together.
I went to check on them a few times, just to make sure things were good.
It was pretty cute.
They spent most of the time hanging out in Porters room.
So cute!
*****
Cassi and Madi had a talk the other night and they decided they wanted to start running together after school, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
We will see how long it lasts, but they sure had fun today.
It might become Tuesdays and Thursdays.....cause really Wednesdays and Fridays are busy days.....
I will have to remind them of that :)
Like I said, they had fun.
Cass really has great running form.
And Madi tracked herself as she sprinted home and she reached 13 mph.....not a 13 minute mile....that is a 4.6 minute mile.
Girls got speed!
Makes me proud that they wanted to do it on their own.
Madi got home and she said how she felt exhausted, but so good!
She has been feeling a lot of stress, and without cross country, she hasn't had much of an outlet.
So we have had some major attitude.
Not today.
It was wonderful today.
Madi and Cassi planned a FHE together about the Iron rod.
They did a great job and it was really fun.
And just before we got to bed, we had some gun safety practice too.
They are all great shooters too.
We shot up a bunch of our overgrown squash and watermelons that somehow mixed with squash....not yummy :(
It was a fun night.
Everyone went to sleep right away, they were all exhausted.
That means it was a great day, right :)
*****
I started a new Wellness Challenge today.
I am not heading it up....but I am sure excited to get back on track again.
It was a good first day :)

Sunday Septemeber 15

Elsie is causing me to have horrible flashbacks from when she was a rotten baby :)
Okay, not that bad!
But her sleeping has been so messed up!
At night time, she is exhausted, but keeps saying she is not tired and will cry and cry and not stop.
I end up rocking her to sleep.
Then for the past week she has been waking up between 4 and 4:30.
I need to go back and look through years of blogs, cause it seems like this happens every year.
I don't know if it is the same time of year or not.....but I really do not like it.
She cried uncontrollably.....there really is nothing I can do except wrap her tight and rock her (like crazy rocking).
She usually falls back asleep in time for me to hear Porter calling for me at 6.
Just like those days of her as a baby.
I am exhausted!
She has to be exhausted.
I don't know how to break the cycle.
I feel like if she would just got to sleep good at night, like usual, then she would not be so tired and sleep better all night and if she would sleep all night she won't be overly exhausted to go to bed at bed time.
Vicious cycle :(
Wish me luck tonight.
*****
Church went good.
Both Brent and I taught....and the kids were all good.
So yay!
After church I started making some dinner and desserts.
Madi had a meeting and as soon as we picked her up, we headed over to take dinner to the Young's.
Drew just had double knee surgery.
He is doing good, and they probably don't need our help.....but I am glad we got to stop by and I hope I don't poison them with my cooking ;)
We headed back and took a dessert over to one of the families that Brent home teaches for.
The mom is very active, but the dad isn't and their boys rarely come.
Brent really likes the guy, but they have yet to make it to their house to Home teach.
They have done things outside the home, like when they went to the monster truck rally, but they always cancel when appointments are made.
Anyway, today was the moms birthday, so we decided to take them some dessert.
We didn't talk to the Dad, don't know if he was home, but we had a nice conversation with her and one of the boys.
Anyway, it was a nice conversation.
Brent said that we should invite them over to dinner and he would really like to get to know him better, cause he seems like Brent's kind of guy.
And she said that 'that would be an answer to her prayers.'
I am glad that we stopped by.
Then we headed over to the Morgans house for a little birthday celebration for Canon.
They surprised him with an old fire truck that belongs to one of Paul's friends.
He uses it as advertisement for his business.
Anyway, the kids thought it was fun.
Elsie has the cutest friends.
I loved watching them all night.
There were a ton of kids there....but they all got along.
It was a fun time.
And of course we got to bed too late.
Not crazy late, until Elsie kept me up till now.
Oh I hope we can get back on track!
