Monday October 10

This little bug has had a rough day.
I am not sure what is going on with her.
Poor kiddo.
She was up again at 4:30 this morning.
But this time little Porter decided to join us.
So I didn't send her to school....she was so tired and I got her to take a nap at about 11.
Same with Porter.
We had some guys making crazy loud noises downstairs putting the furnace in....and the little ones slept right through it all.

Port and Elsie were playing with play dough.
And Port got her in the eye with a butter knife.
He felt pretty bad.
Later on in the day I noticed that her legs were covered in hives.
So I gave her a nice warm bath.
I think that helped.....but poor girl was still not having a great day.
She couldn't walk very good.....too tired.
And talking was hard for her too.
I hope she sleeps well tonight.....but I am not sure how it will go, cause she is sitting right here next to us....still not asleep yet.
She doesn't have a fever, but keeps complaining about her throat hurting and her tummy hurting.
Oh I don't know.
I will just go cuddle and rock her and hope for the best night possible!

Sunday October 9

We went to church today....to our new ward in our new church building.
We went the week before Conference....but it was the Primary program and I am not sure people didn't just think we were visitors.
Anyway.
Today was the day they had us stand as new members of the ward.
I made sure everyone was dressed cute and looking nice.....when we all stood up..... MY BRA STRAP FELL DOWN!!!!!
I was so embarrassed.
Seriously!
Oh well, what can ya do?
Well, then it was time to pass the sacrament.
Our tray had just enough cups left for our family....which is a good thing, cause when we started to hand the METAL tray back to the Deacon, we (we being Porter and I) DROPPED IT!!!!
I can't even tell you how loud that was.
Like I said....it was metal...it dropped and cup flew everywhere.
I helped pick up what I could and apologized the whole time....I felt so dumb.
Again....oh well.
What can ya do?
The kids went to class....well, not Elsie.
But I did take her in to meet her teacher and classmates.
We will see how long it takes to get her to go.
Everyone at church kept telling me that she has the best teacher.....but we really know that Sister Roll was the best for little Elsie ;)
So I think it will all work out in time...we will see.
*****
After church we had fun playing outside.
It was a beautiful day.
After dinner the kiddos had some ice cream and played on the tire swing.
But Dad figured the tire swing needed to be better.
Better, of course, so Elsie could swing on it.
So he set to work making that happen.
That was a huge hit!
Port stayed on that thing for the longest I have ever seen him stick with something!
It was pretty cute!
Elsie got some more buffalo hunting in today.
She is a silly girl.
I hope she sleeps good tonight.
She was up again early this morning and was pretty emotional today.
We will see.....hope she isn't getting sick!
And Madi thought she was pretty cool to teach Cassi how to drive the 4-wheeler.
But they do know to ask permission and to go slow.
So as long as they obey those rules....then you have fun, girls!
*****
We also went and picked up our 5th wheel from Pat and Steve's.
They have been so great to let us house our trailer there at their place for so long.
But now...we can keep it here!
Yay!
I better get to sleep.
I am sure tomorrow is gonna be another big work day.
Oh, and we will soon be getting our furnace installed.
Which will be nice when the weather turns cold.
The house stayed pretty warm when it got cold and rainy, with the help of a space heater.
But I am not sure that will be enough when the snow starts coming!

Saturday October 8

The day started out with the boy cutting up trees and loading the trailer with things that needed to be burned.
Port was a pretty good little helper.
I love watching those boys work together!
Makes my heart happy!!!

Then we got ready to burn our burn pile....but we needed to mow down some of the high weeds around the place.
I took that over....it went pretty well.
Kinda hypnotic :)
There is still lots to do....

The kiddos were good and had fun just playing around.
Madi was such a great help.
She walked with Dad around the fire stomping, with a shovel, any fire trying to get out of the circle.
And Cassi did a good job entertaining the little ones.

We decided to have a weeny roast for lunch.
The kiddos thought that was pretty great :)

Madi did such a great job helping with the bon fire.
After the fire was put out...she hung around making sure there was no little fires started.
She was happy to do it and really enjoyed being out there and helping Dad out.
So....Dad said he would teach her to drive the 4-wheeler as a reward.
She did really well.
And she was pretty happy with the reward!
*****
Cassi went to another birthday party today.
She went to the Wings center.
After the fire, we loaded the trailer with all the construction junk that we couldn't burn in the bon fire.
So when we went to pick Cassi up, we headed to the transfer station.
Worked out nice.
When we got back home, Brent got to work on fixing up our well house.
Apparently at some point in it's life it was hit by a micro-burst and ripped the roof off.
There was no siding on it and it was looking pretty bad.
Plus we need to get it winterized before it gets too cold.
So he got to work on that....I helped as much as I could.
So did Port.
It will look good when we get it all done :)

Friday October 7

The kids were pretty great again today.
Madi was a big help with moving some furniture in.
It will be nice to be completely moved in.
We need to get all the stuff we have in storage!
But if I get everything here in it's place, it will be easier to get rid of stuff we don't have room for that we have in storage!
That is my theory anyway.
*****
After they got the art/playroom cleaned, I pulled out some beads for them.
Madi got busy and made several pairs of earrings and bracelets.
She and Cassi talked about making a jewelry business and calling it "Cool Jools".
I love it :)

She made a special BSU set.
Looks pretty good to me!
She also made some friendship ones for her and Kara.
Now we need to get Kara over here to come and hang out!!!!

I just love Cassi and her quirky fun-ness.
These are the earrings she made for herself today.
But my favorite part is the feather and flower she has clothes pinned to her vest.
I think those would make nice pieces for their jewelry business....what do you think?

Madi stuck to the jewelry making for quite some time.
She sure loves doing stuff like that!

She made this pair for me.
They are just perfect!
She also played photographer for me.....so i could have a picture with my cheesy cheesy little guy!

We had a visitor today....Sister Roll came out to see us.
Elsie was so excited.
We need our weekly fix of her....since we can't do it at church, we have to plan it out!
While she was here we talked about picking apples.
I figured we had picked all the good ones.
But later in the day I asked Madi and Cassi to take Port outside so I could get dinner done.
They came back with their arms full of apples.
I got bags for them and Elsie and I headed out to check it out.
Sure enough....lots of apples.
Good apples.
I will need to get a ladder out ad get some more good ones on top.

The girls were pretty proud of themselves!
I hope they are just as excited next year when we will be {hopefully} over-flowing with fruit......

I took all the kiddos for a ride around the place this evening.
We love it here.
Like really love it here.
I cannot believe this gets to be our life!

Look how cute that is?
Elsie all wrapped up around Porter.
Look at those toes.
Cracks me up!
Just adorable!

Thursday October 6

Oh man....what do ya do when the kiddos are out of school and it is pouring rain outside????
Well, this morning we decided to make ourselves some play dough.

That made for a good morning....the kids sitting in their playroom, happily playing with home made play dough.
For a long time too.
Good stuff :)

Then Cassi, Madi and Porter ventured outside to play in the rain.
They had some fun out there....then came in for some lunch and hot chocolate.
I got these boot for Porter st the thrift store.
I love them!
Need to get some for all the kiddos.
If only I could find a pair for each of them at the same great price :)
He looks like he is ready to help Daddy out with irrigation.
Hey, and look.....look at that green stuff peeking it's head through the ground!
I hope we have a little bit of good weather for a little bit after this rain....I wanna see what this place looks like when it is green!

This boy is growing up.
He is just so much fun.
He is loving it out at our new place.
So much for a little boy to do.
He is still a bundle of trouble....probably always will be.
But I kinda love that too :)

But this might have been my favorite part about today.
These two were couped up in Madi's room for hours.... I mean HOURS!
It was so great.
They got along....played.
Could it be possible that these two could become friends???
Like, 'choose to hang out with eachother' friends???
Maybe?
We will see.
*****
Now...I need some ideas for tomorrow and for the weekend....and lets not forget the four day weekend next week!

Wednesday October 5

Sorry....another boring post without pictures.
I took pictures with my phone today.
But I can't find my card converter thing to make it a regular SD size and my dumb phone doesn't have enough memory to email them to me.
Anyway.....
I took Port and Elsie for their little dental check up today.
Awhile ago, when Elsie had her cavities, we went to a pediatric dentist....cause we knew she would have to be put out to have it done.
Well, we have just continued to go to him with the little ones.
It was a good day.
No cavities.
I have been prepping Elsie for a while now.
Hoping that maybe, just maybe she would let them clean her teeth.
We walked in, and Elsie needed to go to the bathroom.
The lady told me she would just go ahead and get Porter started with x-rays.
He was a good boy and went right with her.
When I came out.....he was sitting there on the big chair with his bib thing on with the cutest little worried look on his face.
He was trying so hard to be so brave all by himself while this girl sticks weird things in his mouth and then leaves him to take pictures.
He was so cute!
Then we set Elsie up.
She was up for it....and was doing really well.
But she kept trying to close her mouth before she was ready, and I think it poked the top of her mouth and she wasn't liking that.
She got one side done....but tried to go for the other, but she just couldn't do it.
She had a melt down.
That's okay.....we moved on.
Port went first and had his teeth cleaned.
He did really well.
He is such a cute little guy :)
Then we got Elsie to lay down and we talked about what they were gonna do, but she couldn't do it.
The noises of the brushes and sucker thing.....too much for her!
Why have they not invented a silencer for those things yet?????
Anyway...no go on the brushing.
Dr. Witt came in and checked Ports teeth out.
He did great and, like I said, no cavities.
Then Elsie got up there.....it was pretty good cause he got her talking about horses.
She let him check them out.....and YAY no cavities!
She said she would let them brush her teeth next time.
Ya, we will see.
*****
The day here at the house was filled with replacing light fixtures.
there were many missing and some really really bad ones.
There is still lots more to do....but we are getting started.
Brent also got my dryer fixed.
Which is a good thing, cause it has been pouring rain all day.
Can't use my clothesline when it is pouring rain.
Pictures tomorrow.....for sure :)

Tuesday October 4

Here it is!!!!!!
Finally done!
I am so happy with it.
I still need to get a rug for the floor, and finish painting the door.
Oh ya, all those doors that we bought for the other house, just happen to fit in all the door ways in this house.
Pretty amazing since they are all such different sizes.
The only difference is the door knobs in the old doors are higher then these new ones.
But, anyway.....we were excited about that!
Back to the bathroom.
One full week of our family all using one small little bathroom downstairs so we could finish this one went pretty darn smoothly.
I am really amazed at how easily this whole transition has been.

We fell in love with these sinks.
But we had to figure out a way to make the counter shorter to make the sinks at the right level.
We thought about cutting the original cabinet down, and using that.
But as I started thinking about it....I thought Cassi's dresser was just the right height.
So, yep....that is, well, was, Cassi's dresser.
It worked perfectly!!!!!
But we do have one dilemma....Cassi needs a dresser.
So if anyone out there is looking to get rid of a dresser, I would love to take it off your hands :)

The kids love it.....and we are very happy with the end result.
Now, onto the next project.

Monday October 3

We did a lot of work done on the bathroom today.
It is all done except it needs a shower curtain....and the drawers need painted.
But it is all usable, and that is pretty great.
It is a good feeling to be done with it.

So we were able to make our way outside and get some stuff done out there.
We ripped down a bunch of fencing....there is still lots to do, but it was good to get started.

We also pulled out a bunch of old dead bushes and trees.
Brent got to put his chainsaw to work again.
It is good to get out and do real work!

I walked the kids to school today.
And they were excited to walk themselves back home after school.
I think it will be a fun thing for them to do.
It is about  5-10 minute walk and I have Madi take our walky-talky with her so she could let me know when they were on their way....and it worked perfectly :)

The little ones got to take a bath tonight.
Actually, this was the first bath we have ever taken in this home!
It was pretty great :)

And I don't want to reveal the bathroom yet cause I want to find a shower curtain to make it look nice.
But here is a little sneak peek......
I love how bright and clean it is.
And it makes me excited to move on to other parts of the house to make it really our own!

Sunday October 2

We listened to Conference today.
Tried too, anyway.
The kids spent a lot of time playing in their 'playroom'.
I put a table in the room and found a few of their toys and paper and crayons.
They played 'Day care' all day.
Not sure where that came from....but it kept them busy for a long time!
I love it when they get along.
*****
We got invited to lunch today with a group of people in our new ward.
It was a fun time and fun to get to know new people.

During the second session I caught Cassi making her own little list.
She wrote down a bunch of words she was hearing, and then marked them off when she heard them again.
I thought it was so cute.
*****
Then after the second session we were invited over to another families house for dinner.
It is a pretty friendly place in this neck of the woods.
*****
The plan is to finish with touch up paint in the bathroom tomorrow and have it all done.
Pictures tomorrow!

Saturday October 1

We had another busy day.
I am pretty sure it is gonna stay that way....forever.
That's okay.
It makes us happy :)

Brent started to try and mow down some of the weeds by the front of the house.....but I am thinking we are gonna need something a little more heavy duty to go over ALL the stuff we need to mow down.
We also started to take some fencing down.
The land is sectioned off in some weird ways.
So we are taking down fences so we can fence it the way we want it to be.
That is gonna take some time too.

The kids played outside while we worked.
It was a beautiful day today.
But it looks like a cold front is coming in.
We need to do a lot of stuff before it gets cold.
#1 on that list is to get a new furnace!!!!
So we plan to get that taken care of Monday.
Brent also needs to insulate our well house.
That is what you see behind the girls in the picture.

Have I mentioned that they LOVE it here????
*****
After working this morning, we tried to get a bit of Conference listening in while working on the bathroom.
That didn't go too well.
Luckily it is recorded.
I did here some of it....and I am just wanting more.
I love Conference weekend.
Maybe tomorrow we can relax a bit and enjoy it.
*****
We also got some visitors this afternoon.
The Terry family came over to hang out for a bit.
We sure miss them and our everyday interactions.
But I have no doubt we will stay close.
The kids loved it out here too, so I am sure they will make mom and dad bring them more often.....  :)
But we like visitors.
Anytime.....
Just don;t expect it to be nice and tidy and clean.
Like I told Jenni....it Kinda looks like a tornado hit.
And that is not an exaggeration :)
*****
The grass is starting to green up a bit.
It was dead dead.....it is funny how quickly little green starts shoot out of the ground....
The land was just waiting to be loved :)

The kids had fun running through the sprinkler......they got soaking wet.....but happy.
That's what matters.

Except Elsie...she is not a fan of sprinklers.
Although, with the bathroom being ripped up, I have gotten her to take a couple showers in the downstairs bathroom.
These have been the first showers of her life.
And according to her, she 'LOVES' showers now :)
(Her glasses are broken, and I haven't found the little glasses kit to fix them yet.)

Madi, posing.
She is such a goof lately :)

I still can't believe that this gets to be our life.
All the amazing things we have in store....it is so exciting!
Brent and I do wish we could get this bathroom done though.
He has had a few issues with plumbing and electrical....but he has them worked out now.
They were just time consuming.
As soon as we are done with it, we are headed outdoors to do some stuff.
Well, not some stuff, LOTS of stuff.
Oh, and I guess we should finish moving stuff into the house :)
But right now I am gonna go work on the bathroom with my hubby.
