Thursday January 5

We all slept in again and it was so great :)
I got a workout done and that was also great!
Then we piled in the truck and drove to the church to shovel snow.
That was great too :)
So much snow!!!!!!!
We got home and made lunch and we all did our own things.
About 2, Port had been bugging Dad about going to a store that sells a game thing that they have both been talking about.
So Porter, Cassi and Dad left.
Madi, Elsie and I were just hanging out at home when all of the sudden, ALL the fire alarms go off!!!!
I didn't know what to do!
There was no smoke that I could smell.
I had Madi take Elsie in the suburban and pull out of the garage.
And I tried to get a hold of dad and figure out what was going on.
I am not sure if it is what I should have done, but I went and checked all the rooms......no smoke smell.
I would like to think that I would know if it was a real emergency..........
When I told him that there was no smoke or anything suspicious, he told me to go look at each of the detectors to see if they were all flashing the same light.
the faulty one should be blinking different.
I looked through the whole house until I got to the office and I could tell the beeping was muffled.
After about 10 minutes the alarms all stopped.
I looked closer at the office alarm and saw water dripping out of it.
WATER!!!!
Not good.
I got Madi and Elsie back in the house and about 5 minutes later, they went off again.
That is when Dad showed up.
He took it down and the beeping ended (which was deafening, by the way!!!!!)
After some tearing down of the porch ceiling, Dad found some leaking spots on the roof.
Really not good.
We have a lot of roof and A LOT of snow!!!!!
After investigating that spot, he crawled up in the ceiling to check the upstairs roof spots.
From what we can tell, all of that looked dry.
Which is such good news!
Fingers crossed it stays that way!
But we still had this one spot that we knew was leaking.
Drew and the family came over to lend a helping hand.
They are always so good to us!
The boys rigged up a rope system where they could get up on the roof so they can shovel the snow off.
There is still a layer of ice up there, but it is better without snow too.
Brent put some plastic up in the roof area to prevent more water damage from happening.
But that is pretty much all we can do until we can get up and fix that part of the roof.
The upcoming weather will not be helpful for this :(
BUT.....
I do see some big blessings that happened!
If the water hadn't been dripping into the alarm, we would not have found it until there was significantly more damage!
What are the chances?
So that is definitely a miracle!
The other blessing.....what if those alarms had gone off at night?!?!?!?!
Can you imagine the panic from the kids!
AI am so grateful it all happened the way it did.
I mean NO LEAK would be better......
But I am grateful because it could have been so much worse all around!!!!
Just pray for us when the rain and more bad weather continue to hit us!
It was fun for the kids to have the Young girls over :)
They always enjoy their time together!
We ordered pizza and ate dinner together.
Then Heather told us about how they had made ice cream out of snow.
So they made some for us!
It was a big hit!
Especially with Porter!!!!
He loved it!
Oh, and guess what???
It's another snow day tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

We have some giant ice-cycles around here!!!

Madi wasn't be nice....so Dad threatened her with a snow dunk :)
