What a neat day!
It started out with a lot of getting ready.....
Getting tables set, house cleaned, food made (thanks Emmy for doing almost ALL the food!!!!!)
Finally it was time to get ready and head to the church.
We were excited to see Vern and the boys as well as Eldon there already.
Bubble was sick :(
We had a lot of friends show up to support Porter's choice to be baptized.
While I was listening to the talks, I had a unique perspective.
Thinking about Vern sitting there next to me, I tried to think about what it would be like to hear all of this stuff for the first time.
And it was pretty cool.
The words of the songs seemed to have more meaning.....give the singer/listener more information about what our church is all about.
I really quite enjoyed listening to the meeting that way :)
It was time for Port to go and get baptized.
It was a quick thing.
In the water and back out.
So short and simple.......
It is so amazing to me that something so simple can carry such meaning with it!
We changed rooms again for his confirmation.
Each time I hear my children get their confirmation blessing, it reminds me of when I had my blessing.
If anyone knows me very well, they know I have a bad memory.
Like, I don't remember anything!
(This is why I blog.....so I can remember when I read back)
But I do remember that day.
That feeling.
Those words 'Receive the Holy Ghost'.
It is not really something I can explain......the feeling.
The physical change I seemed to feel.
I am excited to talk to Porter about what he felt.
As soon as it was over, we headed home and had a dinner/party with all our friends.
So we didn't get to talk much.
But tomorrow......we will talk tomorrow :)
I am grateful for this chance Porter has to feel the Holy Ghost with him.
To comfort, to guide, to warn.
It truly has been a treasure in my life, and I know it can be in his life too.
Anyway....the party was a lot of fun.
We had about 5 different crock pots full of soups etc.
Bubbles, before she was sick, offered to make my rolls for me.
Then she got sick and I told her to forget it.
But she said she was just fine.
She wanted to!
She made like 150 rolls!!!!!!
And they were so so so good!
She is so amazing and I am thankful for her in our lives!
To end the day, we gave Porter his last gift.
His very own engraved scriptures.
He is pretty excited....maybe not as excited as he was to get the Drone from Emmy.......but he was still pretty excited about it :)
