After getting the kids off to school this morning, we got started on the island again.
I did not like the reds that were being pulled out by the sealer :(
So, we ran some grey stain over it, a very thin coat, wiped mostly off.
Brent said he couldn't tell a difference.....but I think he is lying!
But me, I am happy and it brought back more of that rustic look.
The finish was beautiful before, but not what I wanted at all, and it didn't go with the floors.
So I am happy!
While we waited for the stain to dry, we went to the store to get the top coat stuff for the top of the island.
And to get some miracle grow.
Vern gave me to giant house plants/trees.
They are in pretty rough shape and I am going to see if I can make them beautiful again :)
We did some other shopping and got home a little after Madi got home.
We had family dinner, and boy, Port was having a rough time.
Like crazy bad.
He was trying to tell a story, and was getting so angry if anyone said anything.
He definitely was acting like something was wrong, like he didn't feel good :(
Maybe he is just super tired.
But I took his temp and he was fine, and I sure hope he isn't coming down with something!
But man oh man......if 7 year old boys could possibly have PMS, I know what it would look like!!!!
After dinner, Dad put shiplap on the back of the island for me so I could get that painted tomorrow while he teaches a class.
Now we just need to get the doors done.......(uh hmmm Drew, want to give it a go??? ;)
Then the island will be done!!!!!
I hope to get the stove hood done next and also finish the Butlers pantry.
And then maybe real shelves in the pantry instead of bookshelves!
Ya, I think I am ready to get back into work mode on this house!
We were kind of burnt out for a while.....
And as soon as dad is done with studying for and taking this dumb captains test, then I am sure he will be ready to get back into it too :)
I know it is hard to tell the difference, but trust me, it made a world of difference!
You can see a squiggly line towards the top, the top part of the picture being the more red looking finish, and the bottom part with the grey added.
I love it!
