Friday December 19

How in the world did it get to be FRIDAY!!!!!
Man on man!
So, as usual, I got the kids to school and then headed to the hospital.
He had a good night except for being woken up every hour or so :(
He was feeling good.
The doc came in early and we talked more about the nerve block epidural.
It would bathe the raw nerves with a steroid, hopefully giving the nerve the chance to stop being so angry, and heal a little bit.
We decided to go ahead with it.
They came and got him pretty quick after that.
I didn't want to leave while he was gone to pick up Port and not be there when he came back.
So Vern picked him up and brought him to the hospital for me.
So sweet of her.
They tracked down Billy and had lunch with him....so it was a win/win for all of us :)
So the nerve block went good.
It has an immediate release part to it, and then the extended.
He felt pretty good.
Actually, right after they got it, he felt awesome.
Then it kind of wore off a bit.
But he wasn't uncomfortable.
We got him up sitting for lunch.
The boy watched movies while dad and I talked.
PT came around 2:30 or so.
She was super helpful with a lot of info.
(I wish I had her recorded to listen to again....lots of info!)
But he went for a walk to the PT room.
She showed a diagram and explained the reasons for why she was asking him to do certain stuff.
That's why I liked her.
Instead of saying, you need to keep your stomach tight because I said so.....so had him feel my back while I moved my head back and forth, and then did the same thing while I had my stomach tight.
And you could feel how much your back moved without the stability of the tight abdomen.
She also told me I had great posture....maybe that's why I liked her :)
Anyway.
So it is still hard to focus on the abdomen when the back and leg is hurting so much....but he is working on it and I think it will get easier as time goes on.
He also did some stairs.
Then we headed back and worked on some stretches.
Well, by the time I left to go and get the girls from school, he still had his IV in.
You can't go home with an IV in.
The doc decided that he wanted him to stay the night one more time (hopefully) to see if we can wait and see that steroid/nerve block kick in and make sure he doesn't need those IV drugs.
So the plan is for tomorrow.
Please be tomorrow!!!!!
I picked the girls up from school and we were delivered some dinner that was brought to us by my friend Alyson Woodland.
We all climbed in the car and took it to the hospital and had dinner with dad.
The kids had a lot of fun seeing him and hanging out with him.....
And being his Doctor.
Oh Elsie was so funny to watch.
Made me smile.
And Dad was a pretty good patient :)
Port played doc too....but mostly he was just a stinker.
He had already been there all day, so he got bored quick.
Boys.
We left dad about 7:00........he was getting sleepy, and the kids were getting too rowdy.
I took the big girls to the store to get gifts for some birthday parties they are going to tomorrow.
We didn't have any time to get it done earlier this week.....like I had planned.
Came home and got little ones to bed.
When dad called around 10, he said things were going good.
The plan is to go the night without the IV stuff.
I pray all goes well.
And that he gets good sleep and the pain is controlled without using the IV.
Then hopefully, HOPEFULLY, he can come home.
He's gonna heal better here at home.
I know it.
Plus, I will sleep better with him there beside me.
Thanks for the continued prayers!!!!
