We did yard work today and also took the trailer out to Pat and Steve's to use for their family reunion.
Not much work on the house except for the trusses being delivered.
Oh and what a mess it was!
First of all the driver was grumpy.
He was ready to go home and didn't want to deal with getting the trusses in the spot they needed to be.
He guaranteed it wouldn't fit.
He said we would have to cut down one of the willow trees.
So Brent said, okay leave and bring it back tomorrow when the truss guy and the builders are here.
He said that he can't just take it back to the yard because he needs it for 12 loads tomorrow.
Brent said, I don't care what you do, either drop them or take them.
Brent was pretty fed up....the guy was not happy and not easy to deal with.
Anyway, he decided to give it a try.
He got backed in to the perfect spot and everything looked great.
He went to pull out, and (according to me) he pulled out the opposite direction he backed in, twisting the bed and the whole load tips to the side.
A bunch of the little pieces fell off the side.
He stopped, then kept going, and we hear a big crack.
My stomach dropped.
That is a whole lot of money sitting right there!!!!
We looked and it was the wood underneath for support that broke, not a truss.
BUT....it made the trusses stuck up on the runners, so they couldn't slide off.
So we waited about 2 hours for the guy to have a gradal (massive forklift) come out, drive in our pasture....that was just watered, and reach over the fence, lift up the truss load enough for it to be able to slide down the rollers.
It worked.....but they ended up way far up on the drive way.
We are hoping there is enough room to get the crane in when they come.
What a mess.
Oh well, for now they are here.
There were a few damaged trusses that they will need to replace.
Hope that doesn't take forever :(
The kids pulled out the mini pool today....that kept them busy and cooled off while we dealt with the truss stuff.

After dinner we all sat and watched Madagascar 3 and just relaxed.
Tomorrow we will wake up early before it gets too hot and take the rest of the roof off, because we found a guy who can come and vacuum up the insulation for pretty cheap.
But he needs to roof off to do it.
So that's our plan :)

So sorry Kim!! Sounds like if the truss guy had been just a little more patient, it would have gone perfectly! What a pain for you guys to have to deal with the problems he caused! :o(
The kids look like they had fun in the pool!! I love that Port is playing in the pool while wearing his Spiderman costume!!
