Monday November 11

So it was a rough day for Elsie.
More than a rough day...she was really bad today.
I got a call around 1:30 from the extended resource teacher.
She said that Elsie was refusing to do her work, so they sent her to the extended recourse room to finish her work.
After her allotted time was up, they went to check on her and she had drawn all over the wall and bookshelves.
Not good.
Still no work done.
When I talked to Mrs. Laura, she said they were having her clean it up and write a letter to the principal apologizing for writing on the walls.
Well, after school, I went to pick the girls up, and I was going to stop by the extended recourse room , cause I wasn't sure if Elsie ever did her work and was allowed to go back to class.
On the way there I saw one of her aides, Mrs, Dinka...I asked her if she knew about what was going on, and she said she was the one helping Elsie when it all went down.
Both she and Mrs. Chris said they had never seen her act like this before.
Usually the 'threat' of missing music, or specials is enough to get her right to work.
Nothing worked today.
I still don't know what happened.
When I asked her, she said that the work was too hard.
But this week they are doing testing on kids, and so their packet is just review....so all stuff she has done before.
Anyway, Mrs, Chris said she figured it was her way of taking control, she was feeling helpless.....but why did she feel helpless to begin with???
We had a long talk when we got home.
She wrote some cards to her teacher, the ERR teacher and to Mrs. Dinka.
I think we got it through her head that when she refuses to do her work or makes bad choices not only does she lose the fun things she usually gets to do, but it makes her teachers sad, and she ends up having to do more work than she would have had to begin with.
I sure hope this doesn't make things start going bad at school.
I don't think it will.....but I still worry.
Poor sweet girl.
I know she is stubborn and I know she feels out of control of her environment sometimes.
I wish I could make things easy for her.
But I also want her to learn and grow.
*****
Madi and Natalie went to the gym again today.
Brent went with them to help them with their workout.
It was a good thing, because their last station as on the elliptical, and Madi must have been going too fast, she lost her footing and her foot ended up getting stuck down inside and smashed.
I think it is just bruised up, but she is having a hard time walking around.
We will see how she feels tomorrow :(
Poor girl.

Sorry about Madi's foot! :o( Hope it feels better soon!

Oh Miss Elsie!! Her stubbornness can get the better of her! But it does help her too! She just has to balance out her stubbornness - I hope today was just a weird, off day and she doesn't act like that again!
