Friday December 14

I took a nap this morning, cause little bug had a rough night last night.
Wanting to be rocked to sleep almost each hour.
At least she cuddles good then you rock her :)
Anyway, the nap was a good one.
Dad was enjoying the nice weather by replacing some gutters in the front of the house.
That roof has such a crooked roof line.....it is a mess up there.
The area where the house was connected to the garage.....a mess.
Anyway, the gutters that we had up were a little on the cheaper side....
That is how we tend to do things.
Buy cheap.
Well, they didn't hold up so well and our front porch was constantly wet and icy.
So we upgraded.
But we will still use the not so good stuff in the back of the house over the deck.
It will work good there :)
We are starting to learn that maybe sometimes the cheap stuff won't cut it....

Anyway....so I got to watch him out my kitchen window all day.
Good stuff :)

I finished this years frame ornaments for the tree.
I put some of those little cinnamon cookies that we made a few days ago on them.
I think they are pretty cute :)
And I love that dumb red and white bakers twine.
I probably spent too much on a roll of it...but I love it.
And I have used it for pretty much everything this Christmas season :)
 *****
Today, our 12 day of Christmas activity was to go and get dinner at the drive thru and pay for the car behind us.
We went to Wendy's....and there was NO ONE there!  No one to buy for.
So the boys got their hamburgers there and we headed to chick-fil-a, cause we knew that it would be busy there.
We got in what we thought was the shortest line and watched as the other line moved faster and faster and each new car coming up went to that side...so we had no one behind us.
Finally we moved and it all worked out.
We pulled up to the window and said we wanted to pay for the car behind us and the girl got so excited.
She told us that yesterday she had 6 cars in a row paying for the car behind them.
She started telling everyone she was working with and they all go excited.
The kids thought it was so cool to get that kind of reaction.
I think it was a fun experience for them.
Fun for us all :)
Then we delivered our 12 days nativity on our way home.
Dad dropped off the big girls around the corner and when they left, he pulled up past the car ahead of us.
I told him they were gonna freak out when they couldn't find us....
He watched as they ran back around the corner and then stopped dead, not knowing what to do.
I have to admit it was kinda funny, but I also know that there could have been a bit of panic going on too...so I gave up our location by opening the door so they could find us.
Dad is a tease :)
I think it was a really good night.
Still a little bit of fighting....but way better then we were last night.
*****
Today was a very heartbreaking day.
There was shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut this morning.
2o small children killed and 6 adults.
So devastating.
Neither of the big girls had heard anything about it, but they were fighting so much after school we decided that we could talk to them about it and talk about how we should love one another and not wait when there might not be a chance.
We didn't focus on there being bad stuff out there in the world.
We talked more about how we should show more love to each other....and how we should treat each other better than we treat our friends, and not the other way around.
We also talked about praying for those who have lost their loved ones and who are grieving in this hard time.
We told the girls that we need to focus on putting good out into the world and not negative stuff.
Show love.
Be caring.
Just choose the right.
And be good people.

Happy day that you got to see your man working outside the window! :o)

I love your picture ornament for this year!

I think you guys handled the school shooting discussion exactly the right way.
