Tuesday April 14

You know...the ability we have to do what we can with technology is just amazing!
Especially right now, in the world we are living in!!!
Elsie got to do physical therapy today with Katie.
She did awesome and worked hard!
She even stood on the scooter!!!
That is her new thing to tackle...and she been kind of a stinker about it.
But today, she just did it!!!
Well, stood holding it with putting on foot on...but that's more than she's been doing!
So cool!
I got a good run this morning.
And school was a little rough.
They really don't want to do it..... But we are working on it.
Dad got most everything finished up in the basement so I can get painting it all tomorrow.
So exciting!!!
This evening, again because of the amazing technology we have, we were able to have our ARP meeting again.
We talked about Step 10, daily accountability.
I think right now is such an important time to assess what we are choosing to do with our time and also be willing to admit when we are wrong out say sorry when we are mean.
There are so many 'triggers' that happen when you are cooped up in quaretine.
One line I love from the book is "as you plan your day, carefully examine your motives".
Are we looking enough outside ourselves?
We all can so easily slip into depression or addiction or anxiety when we fixate on the things that are not going right.
So we need to plan our day from the beginning in a way that will help us be successful!
That way we are less likely to fall into the bad habits that we have that we think help me feel better....but really just drag is down.
Anyway.
I love being able to talk to our ARP family.
At the end we had a heartbreaking reality hit.
One of our facilitators got a call that his best friend had just died of an overdose.
Talking to Dad, he spoke to how the people in our meeting today, several who are struggling, needed to hear the real consequences of what can and will happen if they don't with the steps.
It is absolutely heartbreaking.
This friend had been clean for three years, then he had his mom pass away a month ago and he went right back.
That's another reason this daily accountability is so important!!!
It is one of the 'maintenance steps', one that you continue doing once you are clean.
You get to choose as the start of each day that you will not let your addiction (or anything you don't want in your life) win.
That you choose to LIVE your life.
And sometimes, when we get out of habit of choosing that, it's easy to go back.
Fall back in the hole.
And when you go back, it can be devistating.
Anyway...or hearts break for our friend.
But it also just fuels the fire to get this program to everyone so things like this can be prevented ❤️
