Today was filled with laundry.
Shouldn't I be done by now??????
I also got some house stuff done and some errands run.
After school I had Parent Teacher conferences for the kiddos.
I didn't go to any of Madi's.
She is getting good grades, plus I didn't have time to go to hers anyway!
After I grabbed the little ones, I picked up Cassi and we went to the middle school.
I really wanted to see what her teachers had to say.
She has a few lower grades, not bad, but I wanted to make sure we were doing everything we could.
Her teachers all love her.
It is funny, all through elementary school, everyone called her Cassidy.
Yes, I know it's her name, but she is just always Cassi to me.
It is weird to me when people call Madi, Madison too.
I know.
I'm dumb :)
Anyway.....but today, all the teachers called her Cass.
Which is cute too.
Actually, it's what I call her the most.
I guess she wanted a more grown-up, sophisticated name for middle school ;)
But she is doing good.
A couple missing assignments that she can make up.
And she has a teacher that will let her redo any homework that she gets a low grade on.
She does that for the whole class.
I guess the main purpose is for them to LEARN it......so doing it over and over until they get it, I think it is a great idea!
But it really did ease my mind with her school work for me to know a little more about what the teachers expect and allow for them to do.
Then I dropped her off and went to Mary Mac for the little kids PTC.
I started with Mrs. Hassakis.
And she said, first thing, I just love Porter!
He is doing really well.
She is very pleased with all the work he does and the helper he is in class and she says he is always on task and knows what is going on.
Her only concern was the scores he got with retaining the sight words.
I agree with her on that.
Words that he knows, should know, he still sounds out.
I told her that I think part of it is he thinks he will say it wrong (and he really hates messing up!) , so he always sounds it out, just in case.
But I also agree that we should watch it and work harder on the sight words.
She says he is a whiz with math and said that maybe when they start working word problems into math it might start to help with the sight words, since he has such an interest in math.
But like I said before, he has been really excited about reading lately, and him wanting to read will really help too!
Elsie's meeting went fine.
The meeting is with Mr. Barrera and the extended resource teacher.
I am not sure anything came from the meeting......
I just don't know how to fight.....or what to fight for.
By trying to get her more in the classroom, is that what is best for her????
Mr. Barrera said himself that she is not in the classroom much.
Which I hate!!!!!
But I also know that she is not caught up with her grade level enough to do it on her own.
That is another thing, he thinking she needs an aide by her side to get stuff done.
I do think it is getting better......
Anyway.
Part of me thinks they are doing what is best for her there.
The other part of me thinks it is way easier for them to send her off from the class and not have to deal with her because it is harder that way.
I don't know.
I just want her to have the best chance in this life!!!!!
Anyway......
I skipped the YW activity tonight.
It was going to be fun, they were broadcasting the Piano Guys program from last night.
But we are leaving tomorrow and I still have not much done!!!!!
And Madi wasn't feeling very well, so we stayed home.
And I leave you with a picture of my stained glass stars from Emmy.
I love them and can;t wait to add more :)
I finally got them hung today and it's the only picture I took today, so there ya go!
