I got to help in the office for school this morning.
The problem is that I had to be there before the bell rang.....
I have been prepping the little kids, because I usually stay with them until the bell rings.
Not that I want to, and I am not sure how it got to that point.
Anyway....I have been trying to prepare them that I won't be with them.
I told them it is just like lunch recess, you go play with friends, and then when the bell rings, you line up with your class.
Easy peasy.
I thought.
When it came time for m to go to the office, they both panicked.
Porter more so than Elsie, but the way Port was acting made things seem worse for Elsie too!
Ahhh!
So they both came to the office, with one not happy mom.
Then the bell rang, and things seemed good, they both hugged me and went off to class.
I started to get the run-down on answering phones etc......when Port comes running back to give me another hug.
I hugged him and tried to reassure him and sent him off again.
Back to the office stuff......
He came back again, in tears this time, so I told Ms. Linnea that I would be right back and I ran him to class.
That boy!!!!!
Next time I am going to take Max and Graham with me too.
Maybe having a friend right there with him will help getting him to class.
I don;t know...on one hand I totally see how he is getting the reward he wants by having me take him to class......
But on the other hand, what are my options????
And it's not that he is trying to be a bum.
He really is feeling anxiety over it.
Over leaving me, maybe going to the wrong class, being late, being early, forgetting something.
I am not sure.
But I do know it is a real thing he is feeling.
And I don't him to feel more anxiety and insecure by something I am doing!
Anyway......that's my spill for the day :)
After I helped at the school, I went to Walmart for some TP, milk, bread, etc....
I did do some cleaning when I got home.
I also made some zucchini bread for the kids, which ended up messing up what I cleaned up anyway ;)
Oh, Dad did end up going to work today.
He went back and forth, he didn't feel great, but he felt better than yesterday.....
He finally decided to get up and go.
He told me he is feeling a bit better.
I hope tomorrow is even better.
So this evening was really just getting homework done.
Porter had been loving to read lately.....which is awesome.
Reading on his own but we are also reading a couple books.
At night after we read his (personal) scriptures, the kids reader one, we also read Narnia.
And today he decided he wanted us to start reading the Magic Treehouse books.
I am not a huger reader, but it really makes me happy when my kids like it.
And I enjoy reading to them too.
Elsie also finished her book today.
We found a book at the school bookfair that is a chapter book, but has large letters!
Yay!
That is why she says she doesn't like reading, the print is too small.
No, it's not her eyes, I think it is more of a focusing on the words thing....
Anyway, we found out that this book has a whole series, and I can order them from Amazon at about $5 each.
The series is called 'The Critter Club'.
I told her I would keep getting her to next book when she finishes the one she has.
It has been very good incentive.
And the story is great to, it involves animals which she loves and a group of girlfriends.
I am pleased with how much reading she has been doing!
And it keeps getting better the more she reads.
So the other day I ordered book 2, because I knew she was getting close.
It arrived today, and she was very excited!
Me too :)
