Wednesday December 17

I got the kids off to school and headed right for the hospital.
The doc came and talked to Brent before I got there.
He did not instill much confidence in what was going on.....and what the permanent outcome might be.
So when I got to the hospital, he was pretty bummed out.
I sat with him, we talked, I got him what he needed.
His friend Pete stopped by, that was a nice boost.
Then I left to go and get Porter.
We came back with treats and hung out with dad.
The boys watched a movie together.
It was a good distraction for dad.
Drew and Heather stopped by as well.
Also a very good boost to have.
Drew offered to give him a blessing (which we should have thought to do BEFORE the surgery).
We called a few people and finally found a friend, Aaron Fuhriman, to come and help with the blessing.
It was a beautiful blessing.
It was just what Brent needed.
Thank you Drew.
They visited for a while and Drew stuck around to help out while the PT came and got Dad to stand up and try walking.
He did a pretty good job.
So that was another good little boost.
About 3:30, Port and I left and picked the girls up from school.
Then we headed straight to the hospital again.
Elsie almost burst in tears to see her Daddy like that.
She kept hugging him and looking at him and rubbing his arm.
It didn't take her long to become his doctor :)
I think having his kiddos around made for good medicine.
We stayed for a couple hours.
Ate junk food out of the vending machine....that was a big hit :)
We left around 6 so we could get home and eat dinner (which was brought to us by the Webb family) and get Madi to YW in time.
 I skipped YW.
I needed these little ones to get to bed at a good time since it was so late last night.
So another day gone.
Still a day full of calls and texts and offers of help.
People really are good.
So what we need most right now are prayers.
Prayers not only for his recovery.....but for Brent's heart to be lifted.
This is so hard for him.
I hated leaving him tonight.
It's hard to stay optimistic on your own.

Uncle Brent you are Awesome!! And so are you Aunt Kim! That is amazing that he has been up and walking just 24 hours after major surgery. Please tell everyone we are thinking of them and you all are in our prayers. I know we are far away, but please don't hesitate to ask if we can help in some way. Love you All!
