Sunday September 7

Today was another very touristy day :)
It all started with what was supposed to be a 20 minute ride into San Francisco, became a 1 1/2 hour drive.
I guess there was a wreck over in Treasure Island.....and it was backed up all the way to the toll booth.
So there were 16 lanes of traffic going the same direction as us, trying to get to the same 5 lanes that went over the bridge.
It was crazy!
I have never seen that many cars!!!!
But we finally made it into San Francisco.
Oh my goodness....the city.
The buildings!
The row upon row of homes and buildings stacked up along the hillside.
So beautiful, yet, pretty intimidating!
I am glad I live in a small place.
I love the slow pace of life.
But it sure was cool to see all those beautiful old buildings.
So much character....
Well, our first stop was the Golden Gate Bridge.
It was so neat.
So cool to see in person.
We took pictures, then got on and walked it.
Okay, we walked half way, then walked back....that's the whole thing, right???
It really is so amazing!!!!
We could also see Alcatraz.
That was pretty cool too.
I think if we hadn't spent so much time getting to San Francisco, we may have tried to see more of Alcatraz.
But we lost a lot of time doing that drive!
But we got pictures and Brent told me stories.
He thought it was pretty cool to be able to see it.
After that we drove to Pier 39.
We spent a good chunk of the day there.
We had our late lunch there, and I had fish and chips that was SO YUMMY!!!!!!!
We walked the pier and found fun gifts for the kids.
Then we went to Ghirardelli square.
Had some chocolate and got some more gifts.....
Then the day was gone.
It was time to go find somewhere to eat dinner.
We ended up heading back to Oakland, and stopping at a little Mexican food place for dinner.
And it was yummy.
I think Brent and I need to rethink our not liking Mexican food.....
For us to eat it two nights in a row while on vacation, maybe we do like it :)
Back to the Hotel....and waiting now for some extra blankets so we can pad our bed and hopefully sleep better.
We spoiled ourselves when we bought our temper pedic.....nothing else compares :)
So hope we can sleep tonight!
Tomorrow afternoon we will meet back up with Aunt Janice and Uncle Dick and they want to take us to Mount Diablo.
Should be a fun time!
Boy, we miss those kiddos though.
We call them every night, and it makes me miss them even more!
Poor Elsie has had a fever again, so Emmy stayed home from church with her and Port while Cassi and Madi went to church.
But it sounds like things are going good and the kids are having a fun time with Emmy.
It will be nice to get home though.
Brent called the airline to see if we could come home a day earlier.....they said 'Sure, for $200 more a ticket"!!!!!
Yikes.....that's double the price of the tickets!!!!!
We are having fun and it is nice to have a little break from the house stuff.
But, to tell you the truth, I am excited to get back to work!
(Pictures to come!)
