Thursday September 11

9/11
A day I will never forget.
I had just sent my fireman back to work after giving birth to Madi.
I sat o my bed with my two week old baby, watching the news, wondering what world I just brought my baby into!
A range of emotions with what followed in the weeks to come.....sadness, pride, fear, love.
I never want to forget.
*****
Got the kids off to school today.
It was crazy hair day at school.
And.....we were running late (again), so I didn't get any pictures before school.
But I got a shot of Elsie afterwards.
Port had spikey ponytails down the center on his head as a Mohawk, and then the hair on the sides of that we 'mohawked' up as well.
He thought it was pretty cool.....
But he said that someone said he looked like a girl cause he had the pony tail holders in there.
Mean kids.....but he seemed to brush it off.
Cassi had braids all around her head and Madi put pink chalk all over it.
It was pretty cute.
Madi missed the bus, and then we just decided to keep her home, because she wouldn't miss much school before I had to come and get her for her foot appointment anyway.
We got her in and got things figured out.
It is not flat feet, like I thought.
But actually a crooked tibia.
With her knees turning in and her ankles turning out.
Foot orthotics will be made for her, that will help.
And stretching/yoga.
But since she is pretty much fully grown now, there really isn't much to do to change it without breaking both legs and fixing it that way.
Which seems a bit extreme!
So we will continue in this direction and hope the orthotics do what Madi needs them to do for her.
On the bonus side.....doctors orders, we went and bought her some new GOOD running shoes.
I took Madi back to school at lunch time, after we went and got some lunch together :)
Then I came home and worked with Brent on the deck, which he had already half done while I was gone.
So the decking is down (sorry about all the pictures....I just don't want to say, "I sure wish I took more pictures", down the road :)
Tomorrow we will take the rest of the old siding off and continue with the new stuff.
Just one baby step at a time.
Before you know it....we will be all done with the whole thing!!!!!!!
;)

The decking looks amazing!! I really like the corners - I think that extra board adds such a cool look. I think it was serendipity that there wasn't an exact 90 degree angle!

Crazy hair days looks like it was lots of fun! I really like Elsie's ponytails!

That is crazy's about Madi's tibias - I hope the orthotics and the good running shoes do the trick for her!
