12-12-12

Every year I tell myself I want to make an advent calendar of some sort.
But I have never done one.
So I found this super easy way to do it, on pinterest.
Each piece unrolls to reveal the family activity we get to do that day.
I know some people do it for the whole month.....
But I just got around to it now, so maybe next year we can try the whole month.
Maybe.
Some of the activities include making cookies and taking them to the neighbors....making Christmas decorations for the house, and there are a lot of fun Random Acts of Kindness things.
I am most excited about those.
I think the kids will get a kick out of it.
One of the days we will go and tape dollars in the toy isle of the dollar store....one is to go to the fast food place for dinner and pay for the car behind us too.
I think the kids will have a lot of fun with doing that stuff :)

Elsie is still feeling yucky today.
I kept her home again.
Her fever isn't as bad, but her cough is horrible.
It sounds like her throat is being ripped to shreds with every cough.
Poor girl.
I hope she has a good night tonight and feels better tomorrow.
*****
I am excited for the 12 days of Christmas to start.
We have several traditions that start tomorrow.
Our favorite being the 12 days of Nativity that we do.
I am sad I couldn't find a 12 piece Nativity.
But I found a super cute 8 piece one and then I will supplement with treats or ornaments on the missing days...
I think it will work out.
I am excited.
We also get the Christmas quilt out.
The one I made last year.
Ya, it still isn't bound.
No big deal.
But the kids will take turns each night sleeping with it.
A new tradition, but a fun one.
The little Elf comes tomorrow too.
This is not the Elf on a Shelf.
This is a tradition passed down from Brent's childhood.
The elf hides a little gift for the kids each night (this gets them to bed at a good time :)
It is fun to watch them search for it each morning.
And now we have our little advent calendar.
I think we will be busy for the next 12 days :)
