Meet Mater.

As I said before....Port was promised a puppy for getting potty trained.

We were wanting to wait for his birthday.....but came across this little fellow and well......here he is.

We are all very excited.

As always, it is hard to tell what a dog will be like by the puppy he is....but this guys seems pretty promising.

I mean he is still a puppy....but he is pretty calm and mellow, and he likes to stick close around us.

Not a bad thing for my little boy who is looking for a best friend for life :)

Porter is a VERY happy little boy.

I had dreams of Port waking up on his birthday morning to a new puppy....

But tonight was pretty great.

Watching his face as he washed HIS dog, dried HIS dog, loved on HIS dog.

I think this is gonna be a good thing.

We weren't prepared to bring a puppy home tonight.......

So tonight he is sleeping in a big plastic tub.

I think the little guy is gonna love it here.

He is a pretty great mix of dogs too.

His Mom is an Australian Shepherd and his Dad is a Border Collie.

About the two best farm dogs out there.

And, I guess you don't have to think very hard where the name came from.....

But I do think Mater is the perfect name......

When he was born he had no 'rust' color on him or smaller spots....as he is getting older, more and more 'rust' is appearing.

We are loving the look of it and can't wait to see how his coloring changes as he gets older.

So like I said....perfect name :)

The boy thought it was pretty perfect too.
