Saying Goodbye to Grandad
I am missing my Grandad's funeral right now.
We just couldn't make it work for me to get down to Arizona.
I am sad about that, but he knew I loved him.
My kids and I have written several notes in the last little while to he and Grandma.....and I know he knows.
So my little family and I found our own little way to say our goodbyes to Grandad.
One of my most favorite 'Heavenly' activities.
We all wrote notes to Grandad....and tied them to colorful balloons.
Grandad was a teacher/Principal for much of his life, so I thought these colors were perfect for that.
I am excited to hear how the funeral went.
Grandad LOVED singing.
A few years ago he handed a sealed envelope to my Mom, asking her to make sure the list was followed for his funeral.
He requested that his opening song be "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam".
Now how cute is that????
And that is what will be done.
Other songs on the list include:
and on and on and on.....it was literally all songs.
He requested that if anyone be so inclined to speak that they would keep it to less than 10 min.
He said music touched his life and helped him in so many ways.
And if you click on the links....you can see why he was touched by music.
I sure do love my Grandad.
I am so Thankful for his example.
Thankful for his sweet smile and gruff voice.
I am so Thankful for the service he and Grandma have given in this life and that they were/are able to touch the lives of so many others.
I am sad that my little ones weren't able to know him the way I did.
But he lives on with pictures and the stories he left behind.
Love you Grandad, and God be with you til we meet again!

This is very tender, Kim. Sad we missed out on his funeral, too. Hopefully we can make it to visit Grandma this summer.

Love you!
