I LOVE memories of my Grandma Beardall!!!
She passed away a few years ago, at age 98.
She was such an amazing woman.
This is one of my most prized possessions.
My grandma gave me a bag full of pieced together material.
It is to a pattern that I believe is called 'Wedding ring' or something like that.
She had a big bunch of them put together.
Some still pinned together.
Some just separate pieces.
And she had a little shape cut out of an old envelope.
That is SO my Grandma to just use whatever was lying around.
Anyway.
A few years back,my Grandma became bed-ridden.
I wanted to do something for her.
So I made this little 'place mat' thing to go on the table by the side of her bed.
I loved giving her a little piece of what she had given me.
After she passed away, my Mom gave it back to me.
Now it lays on my night stand next to my bed.
I want so badly to turn the rest into a quilt.
But I have had trouble finding the pattern for it.
If anyone can help with that, I would be SO happy!!!
Also, included in the bag of stuff, was this note.
And I think it is the best part.
My sweet Grandmas hand writing.
I know that this wasn't just given to me to get out of the way.
My Grandma WANTED me to have these.
And I treasure it!!!
I only kinda wish it said KIMI...cause that's what she called me!!!

Oh, I miss that wonderful woman, too. She was just amazing! I loved spending time with her, and will forever cherish those 6 months I lived with her while Tom was in Boot Camp.
I miss that wonderful woman. What a neat legacy she has left behind!
Just seeing Grandma's writing brings tears to my eyes. I love her writing!! I really miss her! She is one of the most amazing women EVER!! I am so thankful for her example and influence in my life!
What a treasure! I love that she was so thoughtful of you and these quilt pieces! How wonderful!
I would love to see you finish it someday! If I ever run across a pattern, I will for sure send it your way!!
What a neat keepsake.. It will be fun to see what you turn it into!
Grandmas are the best!
Hi Kim
Love your blog and your beautiful family. I think the quilt you have is the beginnings of a Double Wedding Ring Quilt - if you search on google you should come up with lots of pictures and patterns. It's not an easy one to do though! Good luck with it - what a lovely keepsake from your grandma.
