The Matthews Family 3rd Annual Burning of the Bushes

We have some bushes in our front yard that we burn every year...apparently my Firefighter husband gets a little anxious to see some fire this time of year!!!
But the girls absolutely love this!
One bush Madi lights...with the help of dad...and Cassi is on hose, then they switch...we had some wind today, and the bushes were already HUGE...so the fire got pretty big, but all under control, of course!

Elsie is not too sure about all this!!!

Cassi shielding her eyes from the heat...

Bush #1...cool fire!

She looks a little worried...don't worry Madi, dads got it under control :)

I can't watch...no I can...no I can't!

Elsie...just smiling like always!

This is Cassi putting out the fire...she had a hard time holding the trigger down on the nozzle, so that is why she has that funny face!

Nozzle off now....too hard. Dad is teaching his little ones how to be pryos...I mean Firefighters!

Elsie walking around...she gets so excited!

Elsie's turn to light the fire...she wasn't that into it!

More fire

Elsie was really unsure of the fire...don't worry she will learn to love it!

Dad with his little one

Madi and Cassi putting the rest of the fire

Anyway...looking forward to next year...and just you wait...these bushes are the biggest and greenest around in the spring and summer!

That is so funny you light your bushes on fire. Of course only you (your husband) would think of that. We just trim ours down. So funny. Don't be surprised one of these days when your girls have lit a tree on fire.....just to help. :)

You know...your not in the boonies anymore. Maybe this is how Ben compensates for not being home to burn ditches every spring. As soon as Dustin sees this, the lane and every ditch in Almy is going to be charred.

I love your blog! I am so glad everything is okay with you! I know how you feel, Maggie had a big lump under her arm and I was so scared it was cancer. Luckily it was a lymphnode that needed removed. My friend just lost her 2 month old to sids, life is so challenging yet so rewarding. Sometimes I just don't understand why people have the trials they do. By the way, I am amazed at Madi's talent...when did she start painting? WOW!

I love that you burn your bushes (ha) that's so cool. VERY cute pictures and a nice commentary all along the way.

I would have never thought burning bushes would be a good thing for them, but you do have great bushes. These topic could sound a little funny if someone didn't know what we were really talking about. Well, I can't wait to see them this spring/summer!

That's nothin! Maybe next time we burn the cat tails here you can blog about that. Last time that was done I remember a big brave fireman getting really nervous and having to go into a defensive mode.
