Blogging from the ER right now.
Brent brought me in.
My BREATHING GOT REALLY BAD.
LIKE BARELY BREATHING AT ALL.
THEY HAVE DONE A CHEST XRAY AND BREATHING TREATMENTS.
I AM FEELING BETTER NOW.
JUST WAITING TO SEE WHAT COMES NEXT.
Written the day after...
It was a very frustrating night :(
Saturday I was having a hard time
breathing, but not too bad.
Then Saturday night was horrible.
I kept waking
up not being able to breathe and wheezing horribly.
I have been using the
inhaler about every 4 hours, and it helps.
Yesterday, I just couldn't take a
deep enough breathe for the inhaler to do anything for me, so it just got
worse.
It is hard for me to know that point of, I can handle this and I can't
handle it....knowing when you need to do something about it.
It was when we
were getting dinner ready, Brent could finally hear me breathing....we had
general conference blasting all day so no one really heard how bad I was.
I
got scared about what kind of night I would have if I didn't do anything....so
with the push from Brent we went to the ER.
Luckily Madi is such a great
helper.
She got the little ones in the bath, they cleaned up the kitchen and
she got the little kids in bed.
She is pretty great :)
We waited at the ER
for a long time.
When we finally got in, my breathing was really bad.
They
listened to my lungs and I was told they 'sound like crap' :)
The dr. said we would
start the breathing treatment right away.
A few minutes after he left, the
xray lady came in.
She said it would only take a few minutes, so we did that
instead of waiting for respiratory to come first.
I was done and back in two
minutes.
Then blood work got done....and a lot of time went by, and no
respiratory!
I was REALLY bad at this point.
Brent said he was scared.
He
kept trying to get me to slow my breathing and to try to take bigger breathes,
but I couldn't.
It was scary.
I wish we would have thought to have him
video tape what I sounded like.
It was bad.
Wheezing and fast in and out
breathing, I couldn't lay down, seemed to make it worse, I couldn't sit it felt
like it blocked it more, and I was too light headed to stand
up....scary!
Finally respiratory came in.
He said he came and they said I
was in xray, so he was waiting for them to tell him I was done.
He never heard
anything, so he decided to check on me anyway.
Just in time I think!
I
think I was close to blacking out.
Getting the treatment started was slow
going, because of my breathing being so bad....but once it got in there and
started to work it's magic, it got easier.
Then the dr came back in, talked
about the xrays...which he said looked good.
He seemed puzzled as to why my
lungs sounded like they did.
He said it would make more sense if I had a
history of asthma or smoking.....
We told him we had kids with coughs at home and
should we worry about them and he said he thinks it is just a weird way that my
body handled it.
Weird.
So He checked me and he said I still had wheezing
so he would order another breathing treatment.
I think we waited a good hour
before they came in.
I was still wheezing a bit after the second treatment, but they thought I was good enough to go home.
We finally got back home after 11:00.
Brent did leave
after the first treatment to make sure the kiddos were okay (Cassi was pretty
worried) and then he headed back.
I felt pretty jittery when we got
home....took a little bit to calm down to sleep.
It wasn't a terrible
night.
I had to stack my pillows to sit up because I was still wheezing a lot
when I laid down flat.
At about 4:30 I did wake up gasping and coughing and
struggling for air.
My inhaler was right there, and at the hospital they gave
me an attachment to get more out of it per puff, so I did that and it took a
minute to get back to breathing right.
But then I slept the rest of the night
fine.
I am just taking it easy.
I wish they could have given me better
options besides to just ride it out and stay on top of it with breathing
treatments.
I mean I WAS doing the inhaler every 4 hours like I was supposed
to!
I don't know what I did different to make it so much worse!!!
So I hope
the stuff they injected me with and the prescriptions they gave me will help me
out like they said and I can kick it quick.
I REALLY hope I don't have asthma
after all this!!!
And I wonder if my voice will ever be back to normal :)
